1. This is what a rain date looks like! We had to move our previously scheduled tournament two weeks later. It was really the first real day of summer weather we had in 2017. It was worth the wait for that sun! — at Ames Golf and Country Club.
2. First thing in the morning was set up. Early on the scene was Derek with car 17R from Reimer Reason Racing. Derek brought his car for display.
3. Of course, he had to get it down to the site. Not often you see a Modified A cruising down the golf cart lane :)

4. Taylor and Lucy proudly showing off the race car. Taylor and Lucy, riders with One Heart, volunteered at the event and handed out water and bars to golfers.
5. It is so exciting to have this support. Derek is donating his 2017 winnings to One Heart. Watch for a chance to visit Derek at a race!! We will be there to cheer on the car bearing the One Heart logo!
6. The car was on display all day by the clubhouse. It got lots of admirers!
7. Sponsors came forward to help with the event. Thanks Grieners!! Signs were placed at Tee or Green throughout the course.

8. It was time to start. Players - start your engines? - Oh, wait...that's the race car.
9. Turns out it was a little bit like the start of a race with everyone rushing out to get started!
10. A team out enjoying the course. Wasn't the weather super!
11. Teeing off. Thanks for golfing with us Mark!
12. There were helpers all over the course and in the clubhouse. Thanks to all volunteers! At the left is Cal who was our photographer. Thanks Cal!!
13. Van Wall Equipment sponsored a Hole-in-One prize. The tee is just in front of the mower. If you look 175 yards out along the tree line - and you squint - you can see the teeny little red flag that marks the hole you are aiming for. Sorry to say the John Deere mower went back to Van Wall and not to a new home... maybe next time! I watched one come within 10 feet though. It was a giant suprise to me that anyone would even get close. Great shot, Derek!
14. Officially, we had to have observers posted to see both the tee and hole in the same view. Katie and Dee, One Heart volunteers (Katie is with the binoculars) pulled this duty. Looks tough doesn't it
16. Here is a tough shot from the sand trap. Don't I sound like I hang out at the golf course all the time :) It was my first time on a golf course. Caddyshack and Happy Gilmore were my only training.
15. Another sponsor. Thanks!
20. Meanwhile, back at the sandtrap. Great photo, Kelly!
17. Another team helping each other with putting.
18. Lunch was walking tacos served at the clubhouse
19. Some golfers grabbed their lunch and kept on swingin' and others hung out and then worked their way back out onto the course. The silent auction items were located here. We were also allowed the use of the tv hookup and could show our video and a selection of slides from our 15 years.
21. Of course, Dee and Katie were on constant watch at the Hole-in-One spot. A little bird watching, a nice breeze....and a late lunch. Thanks all One Heart volunteers for your help!
22. Sand wasn't the only hazard (that is golf talk for an obstacle between you and the hole - or pin) Do I sound like a pro yet? HA.
24. 1. Studying the green.
25. Lucy presented the awards at the end of the day. Our youngest golfer - age 12.
23. Another wonderful sponsor. Also, First National Bank send in sponsorship for a team. It was decided to invite the boys team from Gilbert High School who golfed as our guests. Thanks Gilbert High and First National Bank
26. Lucy presents a prize to our most Sr. golfer.
27. Nearest birthday to the tournament award. We like prizes! Thanks to all the prize donors.
28. We also drew for longest drive, men and women and best putt. We had to draw because nobody kept very good records and the Club Pro, Justin advised we draw names. It worked out!! It was a fun way to play and enjoy the day.
29. Barbara, another prize winner being congratulated by Lucy.
30. People who didn't expect to win a prize...won a prize. That's the way to play.
31. The winning team of the day. Thanks everyone!
